The holiday home Ruhmühle is located only 3 kilometers south of the spa town of Scheidegg far away from all noise and traffic amidst beautiful meadows and forests next to the creek Maisach.
The Ruhmühle is a simple, original holiday home for self-catering with two apartments and three double rooms and two single rooms (a total of 20 beds). The house has three guest rooms and a large kitchen, and is therefore ideal for family celebrations of all kinds. Unique atmosphere in the 500 year old house.
The house is a large meadow surrounded by trees. The creek invites you to play, splashing and dams build.
Division of the glory mill:
On the ground floor you reach a large, spacious hallway on the right into the Allgäu Stube. From there (and from the hallway) you come into the large kitchen. It is available as a communal kitchen to all guests of the house. To the left of the hallway is another large and a small room. Furthermore, there is the boiler room with washing machine and dryer in the EC. In addition, a total of 3 toilets.
A staircase leads to the 1st. Floor. There are the two apartments 1 and 2. In the 2. On the first floor there are the single rooms, the shared shower with WC as well as the extra WC. All rooms in the 2. Floor (except the double room Distelzimmer) have their own sink. In November 2016, we replaced the carpet floors in the rooms with wooden floorboards.
Since the house was built over 500 years ago, it has correspondingly low ceilings and thin walls. At the doors, most adults have to move their heads 🙂
Distribution of the apartment 1 (about 45 square meters): a corridor leads to the spacious living room, furnished with a sofa bed for 2 persons, 2 single beds, TV, table and chairs. You also come from the hallway in the bedroom with double bed (1.80 x 2.00) and in the bathroom (toilet, shower and bath).
Distribution of the apartment 2 (about 80 square meters): the apartment has a large hall, in which the dining area is located. From the corridor you enter the living room (2 sofa beds for one person), the office (a sofa bed for one person), the kitchen (without dishwasher), the bathroom (bath), the toilet and the bedroom with double bed (2, 00 x 2.00). Through the bedroom you get into another room with alcove (single bed).
The house opposite serves as a private family home and is inhabited at irregular intervals. Please take into consideration during your parties and stays on other tourists.
The Westallgäu offers a variety of leisure activities and sporting activities. Lake Constance, Austria and Switzerland are right on the doorstep. Visitors to the fairs in Friedrichshafen and the Bregenz Festival also enjoy booking the Ruhmühle.
Skiers get their money’s worth in Scheidegg. For families and beginners of winter sports, the Luggi-Leitner lift in Scheidegg / Möggers is particularly well suited. The 900-meter-long tow lift transports winter sports enthusiasts to a plateau 1,000 meters high. But experts also get their money’s worth. If snow conditions permit, a small half-pipe with jumps and tables will be set up for the pleasure of snowboarders and skiers.
If it has not snowed enough in Scheidegg times exceptionally, then by car in a short time, the neighboring, higher-altitude ski resorts can be reached.

In the warm seasons, a visit to the beautiful Alpenfreibad between Scheidegg and Scheffau is recommended. Also in Lindenberg there is a great forest lake and an indoor pool, also an artificial ice rink. In Scheidegg there is a small reptile zoo. Here a serpent with 2 heads was born in the summer of 2016. An absolute attraction! Also the treetop path is worth a visit.

For the first time the Ruhmühle was mentioned in documents in 1419. The Ruhmühle received its name from the records because it was a “rough-grinding mill”. Another explanation says that it takes its name from a miller named Rau, who died in the 16th. Century the miller trade exercised here received.
