Maison ARLO (located on the edge of the small Eifeldorf Sassen (about 80 inhabitants) at about 600 meters altitude on the slope of an extinct volcano. Surrounded by a garden with a scattered orchard, the apartment is facing south and offers a beautiful view. The old quarry barn was rebuilt by us in the years 2015 – 2017 into a holiday apartment and is part of a listed building ensemble. During the conversion, only ecological building materials such as clay, historical lime plaster and woods from the region were used. On the ground floor living room and kitchen have a wall heating, which gives off very comfortable radiant heat. Upstairs are two bedrooms with oak floors. The rooms are modern with some design classics and old barn finds. The bathroom on the ground floor has a walk-in shower. From May 2018, the apartment will also have a Wi-Fi connection.
Apart from that, we consciously did without bells and whistles. There is no TV, but a radio, a bit of travel and travel reading and fiction for rainy days. The kitchen offers everything except a dishwasher.
The yard entrance can be used for loading and unloading. Below Maison ARLO there is a public parking space where the car can be parked. The access to the apartment leads through the garden over the street “summer garden”.
The volcanic Eifel is an excellent hiking area with well-marked trails. Several hiking trails lead through the village. The landscape offers distant views and beautiful views. On the 600 meters of altitude there is a slight stimulating climate.
One of the most beautiful Eifel villages, the picturesque Monreal can be hiked for experienced one day from Sassen. Near the village also springs the source of the Elz, which winds in gentle loops to the Moselle. On the Elz are the castles Pyrmont and the most impressive, still completely preserved castle of the Middle Ages: Eltz Castle.
Not far away are the Dauner Maare, extinct crater lakes, where you can swim in summer. Daun is also the next largest city with all shopping possibilities
Otherwise there are shopping possibilities in the Kelberg (supermarket, butcher, baker) 6 km away or Ulmen (7 km) or 9 km away Boos. There you will find a small country bakery and an organic farm shop. At the weekend there is the possibility to have bread delivered.
