Quaint Arundel Cottage

6 People|3 Bedrooms|

Property Description

Enjoy outstanding views to the Sussex coastline from this luxuriously updated traditional worker's cottage in the heart of Arundel

S60682 is the last cottage in a line of individual terraced cottages once owned by the Duke of Norfolk Estate that were used to house workers during the construction of Arundel Cathedral. From the front they all appear the same, but internally each one is different. This three bedroom cottage sleeps six over three floors. The principal bedroom on the top floor has the most outstanding views from three sides over Arundel and to the English Channel beyond.

The cottage is wonderfully central yet in a very quiet part of this historic town, so the cathedral and castle are a short stroll away.

You enter the cottage via a small lobby, which is the ideal place to leave outdoor shoes. The cosy sitting room is at the front of the cottage, with windows on two sides making it very bright and airy. There is a large high definition television with Blu-Ray player and a music player to provide family entertainment. Beyond the sitting room is a dining room, making the ideal location for meals at home if you are not tempted to eat out in one of Arundel's varied selection of restaurants. The dining room has a large wood burning stove, just right for creating winter cosiness throughout the cottage. The kitchen is fully equipped, and has a double oven range style cooker, so eating in will prove to be a pleasure.

On the first floor of S60682 you will find a double and a twin bedroom, along with the state of the art bathroom. This has been fitted to the highest modern standards, with a large wetroom style shower and a free standing bath in which to luxuriate.

On the top floor of the cottage is a truly fantastic principal bedroom. With windows to three sides, it has views up to the cathedral and in the opposite direction over the rooftops and towards the sea. This bedroom is vaulted with feature LED lighting to enhance the appearance of the ceiling at night. The chimney breasts from the rooms below make an interesting feature in this room, with the king sized bed immediately in front of them. There is a large television with Blu-Ray player in this bedroom for those who like to watch films in bed. Going to sleep and waking up again in this bedroom is bound to be a pleasure.

To the front of the cottage there is a small terrace area, which makes a great sun trap and a lovely spot to enjoy a morning coffee or afternoon tea. There is also a small terrace on the side of the cottage looking over a wide grassy area. These lawns do not belong to S60682, but form a delightful backdrop, particularly in the afternoon when the sun gets round to that side. Unallocated on street parking is provided to the front of the cottage and nearby.

For guests looking for an extended family gathering we can also offer Daisy Cottage which sleeps five and is next door to S60682. Click here to see full details of Daisy Cottage. If both cottages are booked together a reduction of 10% will be applied to the rental cost. Also nearby is Rose Cottage which sleeps up to three people. Arundel and beyond

Arundel is a historic market town dominated by the symbolic castle and the rising spire of the cathedral. It offers a plethora of craft and antique shops as well as restaurants and tearooms. It's a great place to wander and just enjoy its hospitality.

Arundel Castle is the seat of the Dukes of Norfolk and is set in 40 acres of sweeping grounds and gardens. The castle has been seasonally open to visitors for nearly 200 years. It is one of the great treasure houses of England and is home to priceless works of art in stunning rooms. Climbing the 131 steps to the Keep which dates from the 11th century to take in the views over Arundel and The South Downs is definitely worth the effort.

Beyond the castle grounds Arundel Park extends north towards the Downs offering many fine walks. A two mile walk to the top affords fantastic downland views and south to the coast.

The River Arun winds its way around the town and is a magnet for wildlife. With more than 60 acres of ponds, lakes and reed beds, Arundel Wetland Trust attracts some of the worlds most spectacular ducks, geese and swans. The best way to enjoy the river is on a river cruise stopping off at the Black Rabbit pub or proceeding further north where the river hugs the scarp wooded slope at the foot of the Downs before reaching Amberley.

Further afield Arundel is well placed for the coast. Climping Beach and Littlehampton's West Beach are only a short drive away. This is a beautiful unspoilt length of beach of Special Scientific Interest and at the eastern end beside the mouth of the River Arun is the West Beach Café built by local craftsmen using materials sourced locally. It is worth a visit, the fish and chips come highly recommended!

Goodwood and Fontwell racecourses are nearby along with the cathedral city of Chichester with its excellent Festival Theatre noted for not only the quality of productions but also the fact many world premieres are featured as well.

If you fancy a day in the city, Arundel mainline station is on a direct route to London so why not mix the cosmopolitan capital with this beautiful part of Sussex.
