Alnwick Castle, home to the Duke of Northumberland, (and film location for Harry Potter's Hogwarts!), is a popular visitor attraction, or visit the Alnwick Gardens; a spectacular interpretation of a formal garden, including a grand cascade waterfall and poison garden, and visitors can dine in the restaurant of the largest tree house in Europe. The picture postcard village of Alnmouth offers a variety of good restaurants, pubs and tea rooms. For sailing enthusiasts there are yachts available and small boat moorings within the sheltered estuary. Golf lovers will delight in the two courses close by; one being a fine 9-hole course adjacent to the beach and the other being a challenging 18-hole course at Foxton enjoying panoramic views.
Also, the towns of Warkworth and Amble are close by, both of which have excellent restaurants, pubs and shops. Visit the castle and beach in Warkworth, as well as the marina and quayside in Amble. From Amble, enjoy a boat trip round Coquet Island bird sanctuary.
