Alnwick Castle, home to the Duke of Northumberland and film location for Harry Potter's 'Hogwarts', is a popular visitor attraction, or visit the Alnwick Gardens – a spectacular interpretation of a formal garden, including a grand cascade waterfall and poison garden where guests can dine in the restaurant of the largest tree house in Europe. There is a wide array of facilities available within this lovely market town including independent shops, tea rooms, a cinema/playhouse and one of the largest second-hand book shops in the UK.
The pretty seaside village of Alnmouth boasts a vast golden sandy beach and there is a variety of good restaurants, pubs, tea rooms and gift shops. Golf enthusiasts will delight in two courses, one being a fine 9-hole course adjacent to the beach and the other being a challenging 18-hole course at Foxton enjoying panoramic views. Travel 10 miles north east to the seaside holiday village of Beadnell, popular for watersports enthusiasts. Visit Seahouses a further 2 miles north and take a boat trip to the Farne Islands to see the puffins at play (in season). Bamburgh Castle is only an extra 3 miles up this stunning coastline.
