Property Description
For those walkers and cyclists amongst you, this semi-detached property is the perfect place situated right next to the famous Cinder Track; the old railway track that runs over 20 miles between Scarborough and Whitby. After 80 years of service, the line closed in 1965, leaving a wonderful off road route for cyclists and walkers. Enjoy panoramic views out to sea and discover the hidden coves and local villages.
The town of Whitby is still very much a bustling working harbour with the fishermen bringing in their catch every morning. The town is full of cobbled streets, quirky shops, good restaurants and local pubs. Whitby Abbey stands on the hillside overlooking the harbour. The resorts of Sandsend, Staithes and Robin Hood's Bay are further north, and to the south there's the large seaside resort of Scarborough with its long promenade running through both bays.
The North York Moors steam railway runs from Whitby down to Pickering, stopping at Goathland (Heartbeat Country). In the late summertime, it's wonderful to watch the moorland scenery pass by, a wash of purple due to the heather. Stop for an hour or two in Pickering before returning there's a thriving weekly market to explore as well as some fine restaurants and street cafes. Shop, pub and restaurant 300 yards.
