Opposite the apartment you can join a picturesque nature trail which is popular for walking and mountain biking. The trail takes you up to two beautiful small lakes, Saissersee and Forstsee or you can stroll downhill to Velden. If you wish to go further afield the apartment is ideally situated for day trips to Slovenia and Italy.
Velden am Worthersee is a friendly, yet exclusive resort with something for everyone. There are playgrounds for the children and easy access to have a swim in the clear, turquoise waters of the lake. You can cruise the length of the lake on regular ferries which stop at many pretty villages around the lake and at the town of Klagenfurt. Motor boats are available to hire and water sports are available for the more adventurous. The area is also popular with cyclists and walkers and the bicycle hire shop also offers electric bicycles should you wish to make the most of the surrounding countryside.
For nightlife and dining out there are many high quality waterfront restaurants and bars; and for an extra special night out you can visit the famous Velden Casino which is in the centre of town minutes from the lake.
Velden plays host to many festivals throughout the year including the White festival, the Volkswagen festival and the Sports car festival. In September the Harley Davidson festival takes place at nearby Faakersee.
There are many excellent golf courses in close proximity; the beautiful Velden Worthersee Golf Club is considered one of the best courses in the world.
The Winter season offers different attractions with ice-skating on many of the lakes, and access to excellent skiing facilities within 20 minutes drive at Gerlitzen. Skiing is also available at Bad Kleinkirchheim, Nassfeld and the three borders region.
