Apartment Wiegenwald
Apartment Wiegenwald is a recently refurbished family home high up on the mountain, at the base of the glacier Weißsee in Uttendorf.
The location is unique on an altitude of 1.500m and, with being right at the base station of the glacier, you will enjoy your skiing or walking holidays. The glacier called “Weißsee Gletscherwelt” is a hidden gem in our area. The resort isn’t too big, not crowed and tickets are available at cheap rates, i.e. a pass for 2 adults included 2 children up to 12 years free of charge. A further discount of 20% is available for all our guests, just show your guest card at the ticket office.
The area is not only enjoyable during winter season, it’s a full year destination. During summer season a National park ranger will be available for you, offering free guided tours up and along the mountain scenery showing you those beautiful spots of untouched nature. Take a lift to the top station and walk around the 3 lakes, Grünsee, Weißsee and Tauernmoossee. Or book a guided tour through the exhibition ‘Erlebnisführung’, where you will see the ÖBB traction power museum, power station Enzingerboden, guided tour Tauernmoossee-dam (one of the longest curved dams in Europe with 1.100m) and National Park – ÖBB-exhibition ‘glaciers – climate – weather’
Those guests seeking for absolute peace, fresh mountain air, no traffic noise ideally book during spring and autumn. Just relax with your family and friends at the apartment or have a walk along the lake and enjoy the quietness within the mountain.
The house “Ferienwohnung Enzingerboden” is located between the lake and the lift station, 2 restaurants are just around the corner, of which “Alpengasthof Enzingerboden” offers morning bread service during the high season. They also sell homemade Schnaps, liquer, lemonades (try the alpine herb ones – delicious), soaps and creams, all made without any (!) chemical, non-natural stuff, yet flavoured with those alpine herbs you can only find here.
When arriving at the house you will find your apartment on the first floor. The hall connects to all the rooms. One bedroom comes with a bunk bed, the other 2 bedrooms with two single beds each and the living rooms offers a very comfortable double sofa bed to allow for 8 guests in total. A selection of books is available, as well as a TV and free WIFI. The kitchen is well equipped and comes with a dining table, dish washer, induction cooker (works only with the provided pots and pans), oven and a fridge / freezer.
The bathroom offers a shower, sink, enough hooks for all your towels and a washer free to use (please bring washing powder with you). Soap and shampoo as well as a basket with cleaning products (dish washer tabs, toilet paper, bin liners, kitchen towels) for a smooth arrival are provided.
There is free parking on site and a common ski room with ski boot heaters.
During winter season (and with snowy conditions in spring and autumn) the road is drivable with either snow chains or a 4 x 4 only. The centre of Uttendorf is 17km away, you drive 11km into the valley easily and the last 6km the road winds up steeply in 13 serpentines.
