Property Description

Have an unforgettable holiday in this unique and listed holiday home. The historic forest house in it’s most basic form is about 200 years old and was completely gutted and then renovated and restored from top to bottom. Feel like you’ve gone back in time. The German phrase "how we used to live at Grandma’s" fits the house’s ambience perfectly. This is where old charm and modern technology meet. Spend your well-deserved holiday in this holiday home together with personal mementos of a long-forgotten time. Reminisce or simply get an impression of how things used to be. At the same time, though, enjoy the conveniences of today’s world. In the forest house you can experience both – a modern kitchen with a vintage look, or a modern, renovated bathroom with rain shower and access through a "barn door". You’ll be surprised by all the details. Original details let you relive the charm of a time around 100 years ago, while enjoying today’s modern comforts. The house was renovated with natural materials. The unique wooden shingle roof and the special wooden frame windows (with an inner and outer window) lend the house a particular flair. The rooms’ interior walls feature clay plastering. Together with wall and floor heating, this results in a pleasant indoor climate. All living areas have larch-wood floors, and a local granite stone floor was installed in the hallway and bathroom. The light switches are also original, allowing you to "turn up" the light – just like 100 years ago. The additional details will surprise you. The house is located in the centre of Stadlern, a small idyllic village in the Upper Palatine Forest and near the Czech border. Enjoy the peace and quiet of the surroundings. During expanded walks in the forest you can explore local places steeped in history. Insider tip: A walk to the Reichenstein castle ruins and on to the Bohemian Forest’s viewing tower with a wonderful view into "Bohemia". Visiting the ruins of the abandoned village Bügellohe is also highly recommended. Experience regional specialities at selected restaurants nearby or at good, traditional taverns. The house is also an ideal starting point for excursions to Regensburg, Weiden, Cham or to the neighbouring Czech Republic.
