Hohegeiss is situated on the sunny side of the Harz in the favorable climatic range of the Mittelgebirge. As the only place of the Harz, Hohegeiss has a pronounced summit altitude of 600 m above sea level.

1. Teufelsmauer
The Devil’s Wall in the district of Harz in Saxony-Anhalt is a rock formation consisting of hard sandstone of the upper chalk in the northern Harzvorland, which runs about 20 km from Ballenstedt via Rieder and Weddersleben to Blankenburg (Harz). Numerous outstanding single rocks bear their own names. The Devil’s Wall at Weddersleben is also called Adlersklippen.
Many legends and myths have formed to explain the particularity of this place. It was therefore protected by the Landrat as early as 1833 and 1852, in order to prevent the dismantling of the coveted building stone. The Teufelsmauer near Weddersleben has been designated as a nature reserve Teufelsmauer and Bode north-east of Thale since 1935, making it one of the oldest nature reserves in Germany.

Third Kingships waterfall
Refreshing in summer and fascinating in winter
Between Harz mountains, medium-sized rock walls and smaller spring streams extends the Harzdörfchen Königshütte. A small waterfall was embedded in this natural landscape, artificially but harmoniously and dreamily. From a 15-meter-high rocky crest, the clear spring water falls down over a small projection in comparatively small amounts of water. In the summer refreshing and in winter through its fascinating ice formations almost bizarre.
At the foot of the waterfall, an idyllic resting and barbecue area invites you to linger with friends and nature lovers.
The Königsshütter waterfall is not only an excursion destination for guests, but also the starting point of the Harz hiking trail (“Stamping”) and the “Harzer Hexen Stieges”.
If you go up the path from the square on the left, you reach the waterfall. There a bank invites you to rest and enjoy with a beautiful view.
4th Trogfurther bridge in Königstein
The Trogfurther Bridge (425 m asl. NN) is located on the Staumauer of the Königshütte overpass.
5th Roßtrappe Thale
The Rosstrappe (403 m asl. NN) is located above the Bodetals and opposite the Hexentanzplatz.
The name of the horse trail above the Bodetal can be traced back to the Königstochter Brunhilde. With a jump on her horse, she once saved herself from her kidnapper, Bodo. Her horse jumped from the Hexentanzplatz to the horse trail and left a huge hoofprint in the rock.
6th Ziegenalm Sophienhof (In the village there is also a private brewery)
The Ziegenalm is located in the peaceful Harz region Sophienhof, surrounded by forests, where the ducklings and geese cudge on the Dorfteich.
At the Ziegenhof you can be sure of the animal welfare and care, the clean milk production and careful cheese making. Children will not only enjoy the fun of the goat’s lambs, but also the attentive and graceful mother goats will captivate them. The freely accessible pet facilities of the Ziegenalm house wool pigs, red resin cattle, donkeys, goats and sheep.
7th Hohne-Hof in Three-Annen
The nature experience center “HohneHof” is located about 1 km from the railway station Drei Annen Hohne above the large forest meadows on the edge of the national park.
