You will reach the forest in 5-10 minutes on foot, which offers acivities like hiking in summer and skiing in winter on cross-country skiing tracks. Lots of nice restaurants within the area. Lots of places of interest, e.g. the Triberg waterfalls can be visited free of charge with the Konos card. The card allows you to use public transport and free admission to swimming pools in the area. It is available at the tourist information of Schönwald. They will give you more information on this.
