THE HOUSE
Our house is located on a (very 🙂 ) secondary road in the village, in a splendid and picturesque neighbourhood. The house is surrounded by our 2000 square meters (21.500 square feet) land – orchard, garden, yard, backyard and pasture. Our orchard has very old nut trees, mature apple trees, and young fruit trees of all sorts. And grapes. And raspberries. 🙂
The house was raised in the 1930’s by the builders’ guild my great-grandpa was belonging to. After they died, in the 1990’s, the house was not inhabited anymore until we started face-lifting it, in 2016. We tried renovating it respecting the wonderful cosy touch of the original house, using as many as traditional materials and techniques as we could, from wooden shingles roof, hand-made traditional-patterned ceramic tiles, to natural plasters and recycled very old alder wood, and keeping all the beautiful objects our great-grandparents had and reuse them and enjoy them. However, we equipped the house with all amenities necessary: fully equipped kitchen, washing machine, Wi-Fi etc.
At the floor level, there are two bedrooms (“The Good Room” and “The Great-Grandma’s Room”), one bathroom, the kitchen and also the technical room.
Upstairs, there’s a bedroom (called “The Night Sky Room” because of the large roof window through you can see the marvellous sky – no light pollution here, all stars and constellations available:), another bathroom and a generous L-shaped open-space which can be used as a big living room and, by night, as a space for sleep (the extensible sofa is placed in a niche providing privacy). Also, my tiny office for no-distraction computer work is available upstairs. 🙂
Outside, there are two porches/verandas and a wooden pavilion providing enough space for eating outside, and including a bread oven and a barbecue.
There are three different entrances in the house.
Due to the original architecture, we could not use more space for the bathrooms. Although they are furnished with everything necessary, for some persons they may feel small comparing to city standards.
Oh, and under the house, there is a stone cellar where we secretly keep all the home-made delights 🙂
GUEST ACCESS
Fell free to drink your coffee in any of the verandas, to have a lazy walk in the garden, sit barefoot on the grass, read or sleep in the hammock under our ash trees, pick some raspberries or some apples, climb in the walnut or use any other space in & out the house at heart’s desire.
INTERACTION WITH GUESTS
We proudly offer a delightful and rich traditional Romanian breakfast, using exclusively natural products, home made or from local farming, including the most precious local product – round pressed & smoked cheese. The price of the breakfast is 6 eur/person and, for longer stays, we’ll be glad providing a discount.
Upon request we can provide traditional lunch / dinner / barbecue or you can use our kitchen / BBQ at own discretion.
NEIGHBORHOOD
The house is surrounded by the National Natural Reserve of Vâlsan River, protecting more than 300 rare flower and animal species, including the world’s oldest fossil-fish alive, 65 million years old, they say: “asprete” (Romanichtys Valsanicola)!
The entire region is filled with beautiful old churches and monasteries, starting with the one in the village (built 1838), Br?det (14th century), Corbii de Piatr? (ancient, carved in rock sacred place) etc.
For hikers & bikers: going north, you can either get to Vidraru Dam (alternative route), or start climbing to Moldoveanu Peak (2544 meters, the highest peak in Romanian Carpathian mountains). Or you can just pick up any road you like and start exploring. Beauty is everywhere here.
If interested in a … town-break, you can easily access historical town of Curtea de Arge? with its stunning Monastery (former capital city of Old Wallachia, 13th century) – 12 km away, or enjoy the breathtaking architecture of Câmpulung (oldest city in Wallachia, inhabited since bronze age – year 1600 B.C!) – 33 km away.
Or you can soak yourself in Vâlsan river nearby 🙂

GETTING AROUND
Our place is just 1h 40min drive (via A1 highway) from the Bucharest Airport. We can pick you up directly from Airport or you can reach Curtea de Arge? by bus/train from Bucharest, and we’ll freely pick you up from there.
Easy access to/from the main roads to:
TRANSF?G?R??AN ROAD – BALEA LAC – SIBIU
BRAN – BRA?OV – SINAIA
BUCHAREST (A1 Highway).
Nearby free parking. Safe place in premises for bikes and motorbikes.
OTHER THINGS TO NOTE
We love meeting new people and being helpful with everything since we love this place and region with all my heart, but if you just want to lay back and enjoy some privacy, we’d easily switch to “silent cat” mode 🙂
