Holiday flat in the state-approved resort of Schönau / Palatinate, in the middle of the biosphere reserve Pfälzerwald / Nordvosges:

The rock landscape of the Wasgau with its numerous castles and castle ruins – including the highest castle ruins of the Palatinate – has a well-developed hiking and biking network. The immediate proximity to the French border allows day trips to Alsace with its numerous sights and – last but not least – top gastronomy. There are two restaurants with a tradition of over one hundred years.

The rock formations of Buntsandstein are home to numerous typical plants and animals. Peregrine falcons and raccoons can be observed year-round. The wildcat has its largest occurrence here in Central Europe. Lynxes from the neighboring Vosges regularly roam the vast forests without a hiker ever being seen. The Nature and Environment Foundation of Rhineland-Palatinate has therefore launched a long-standing LIFE project “Re-establishment of lynxes in the Biosphere Reserve of Pfälzerwald”.
Further information can be found in the nearby biosphere house – not only attractive for children, a. because of its treetop trail.
