The three bedrooms on the upper floors offer a view of two idyllic cottage gardens with cherry and apple trees. In the bedroom on the ground floor behind the kitchen falls the evening light and the view is free to far over the fields. The property is perfectly suited for spring, summer and autumn due to the garden with sandpit. There are several bicycles including three children’s bikes ready for free use. Even in winter it is now very cozy by a new tiled stove in Zargleben, although the house is not well insulated due to the age and the historical restrictions. The old historic ‘Stube’ from 1799 was renovated in 2014, preserving the historical design and the restoration of discovered, more than 120 years old, stencil paintings. Due to the new reconstructed tiled stove, this south facing room is especially cozy in winter.
In Zargleben itself there is a large organic farm, the ‘Eichenhof’, where small piglets can be admired time and again. In addition, eggs, meat (including game) and delicious potatoes can be ordered here. Other attractions in the vicinity are the museum village Lübeln, the Rundling Satemin with a pretty cafe on the village square, the Wendlandbräu brewery, great riding stables and numerous outdoor and forest pools. The ‘Püggener Moor’ is a paradise for mushroom pickers in autumn. But the highlight in Wendland is the annual ‘Cultural Landpartie’ in May: www. cultural-landpartie. de.
A good shopping opportunity offers the 5km away ‘spots’ Clenze with bakeries, a health food store and supermarkets, a pharmacy and banks. In the warmer months, Clenze, as well as the outdoor swimming pool located there, can be easily reached via dirt roads with the available bicycles.
Every Saturday at 10 clock comes a baker with delicious rolls and cakes to Zargleben and rings. This is how the holiday weekend can begin!
