Chalet Sonnberg (approx. 200 m2) is located in a small, beautiful resort. The resort is situated on a sunny slope at an altitude of approximately 1150 m. A steep and winding mountain road (just outside the village of Maria Alm) ,offering a breathtaking view, will take you to the Chalet. During the winter, the road is kept snow-free by the administrator as much as possible. It’s possible however that you’ll need snow chains in order to reach the Chalet. Of course it’s also possible to leave the car down in the general car park and to go up using the gondola lift (from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM). Over a path through the forest and the road (350 m in total) you’ll reach the Chalet. The Chalet offers great comfort and lots of space. From the balconies, you can see the surrounding mountains and have a wonderful view. During the winter, you’ll enjoy the snow-covered mountains and during the summer the green mountain pastures. After a day in the outside air, you can relax in the sauna and afterwards enjoy a glass of wine by the fireplace. Now that’s what we call unwinding! And don’t forget the wonderful sunny balcony, where you’ll hear nothing but the birds and where you can see the squirrels walking from one branch to another. The fully equipped kitchen invites you to cook a delicious meal; if you want some movement after dinner, there’s a table tennis table in the basement. You’ll also find various games in the house. The village of Maria Alm can be reached by car in 10 minutes from the Chalet. You can also choose the gondola lift; the station is just a little higher than your holiday home (350 m). In Maria Alm you can get your daily groceries and you can have a great meal in one of the many local restaurants. There are plenty of outdoor cafes for the tired hiker or skier. Maria Alm is not a mundane town, but it offers everything for people who want to enjoy nature and the wonderful serenity of this area during summer or winter. The Chalet is located in the fantastic skiing area of Hochkönig Winterreich, which is part of the skiing area Amadé. The ski lift is within walking distance of the Chalet. If there’s enough snow, you can go skiing from the Chalet to the gondola lift, up to the forest path. During the summer, this area is excellent for walking and mountain biking. Along the Chalet you’ll find wonderful routes to various mountain refuges. The villages in this area, like Dienten, Hintertal and Mühlbach, are full of flowers during the summer. Within a short distance you’ll find Austria’s most famous golf course. In Maria Alm you’ll also find tennis courts and a beautiful outdoor swimming pool with sunbathing lawn; a great place to be. Please bring good snow chains between October and April! The Chalet is not suitable for people with limited mobility. In the period from summer to end of november 2018 there are construction activities due to the construction of a new ski lift. As a result, there is a lot of inconvenience of construction traffic on working days.
