The Baltic Sea bath Laboe is well known beyond its northern German borders, after all, one went here to bathe 100 years ago.
Laboe is a place for sailors, because the Baltic Sea is located directly on the Kiel Bay, one of the busiest waterways in Europe. Every day container ships, ferries, sailors, frigates pass by. In the summer months you can also see submarines and the proud Crusaders, as they set out on their long journey to the Baltic region or to the Norwegian fjords.
The beach of Laboe is about 2 km long, 50 m wide, white, soft fine-sanded and the riparian zones are extremely flat here. Only after about 30m, the water is deeper than a meter and in some places you can wade almost 100m into the fjord towards the fairway.
On the beach there are several children’s playgrounds. Directly in front of the Meerwasserhallenbad not only the non-smoker beach but also an action beach with beach volleyball field, trampoline as well as electric scooters.
The promenade is lined with many restaurants, small shops and cafes. At the harbor fresh fish from the cutter is offered daily and in the fish kitchen there are delicious, fresh fish sandwiches. The Baltic Sea Laboe promises active holiday fun. Located directly on the Kiel Fjord, come in Laboe young and old at their expense. Especially for children are the fine sandy beach and the wide, the beach upstream sandbanks an event of a special kind. You can bathe in the shallow water and build castles to your heart’s content with the white sand. And if it is a bit colder, the seawater indoor pool provides a successful alternative.
A special highlight is the picturesque yacht and fishing port. Here you can buy fresh fish directly from the fishing boats, or drive with the fjord in the state capital Kiel. Particularly worth seeing are the submarine U 995, the marine memorial and the marine biology station in the 42. Nature experience space in Laboe.
With its wide range of games, sports and fun Laboe offers unforgettable holidays for the whole family. To Laboe it is from Schönberg about 15 kilometers along the B502 direction Kiel. From a distance you can see the naval memorial, which you should definitely visit.
