Dream house in a dream location. For lovers. Couple with child. In a group of four? – Two bedrooms. A bathroom with shower. Children are welcome – for infants, however, the house is unfortunately not suitable. Your child should be 5 years old. Please state the age of your children when booking, otherwise your request will be automatically rejected. We have only been offering the house on the Internet recently – since July 2015. Before we have renovated it in-house. But we have known the place and the region for a very long time. Already 30 years ago we went on holiday here and were swimming in Kratzmühlsee. At that time there was no house sunshine yet. At this point – I remember – was a big field. Up the slope pulled a broad deciduous forest. That’s still like that. Below, the Altmühl flows past. Also, nothing has changed. The Kratzmühlsee lies behind the Altmühl. Around him meadows and lawns for the bathers are created. At regular intervals there are official barbecue areas with fixed charcoal grills that anyone can use. There are plenty of benches to rest around the lake, and occasionally stone tables for a picnic in the open air. The lake is fed by its own springs, so that always fresh water flows. In the evening you can see anglers. The fresh fish comes straight to the grill. It is only a few hundred meters from the house to the lake. It’s best to walk there. On the way you pass the campsite. There you can order fresh rolls in the main season for the next morning. At the lake there is a restaurant with a lakeside terrace, a large playground and a miniature golf course. At the jetty are small boats ready to borrow. At the Altmühl there are canoes with a transfer offer. For example, they paddle downstream and are then brought back to the starting point by shuttle. You can also rent bicycles. There are bike paths without end. Excursion destinations can be reached either on foot, by bike, by car, by boat (6 km) or by train (6 km). Each place has one or more restaurants. Beilngries is 5 km away. This is the main town of the region for shopping. Supermarkets, bakers, butchers – whatever they need for their daily needs – that’s what they find there.
Examples of destinations that can be reached by train from Kinding are Nuremberg (30 min), Ingolstadt (17 min), Munich (70 min) or Regensburg (90 min); Possible destinations for a boat trip across the Main-Danube Canal are Berching (25 km), Kelheim (45 km, Weltenburg Abbey, Danube Gorge) and Regensburg (65 km).
Interesting small towns in the vicinity are among others Beilngries (5 miles), Greding (15 miles), Eichstätt (45 km, Bischofsstadt) or Riedenburg (25 km, falconry at Rosenburg Castle, Crystal Museum). But also the villages of the region have a lot to offer. It depends entirely on your interests. The Altmühltal is an old cultural landscape. The Limes Trail begins in Kinding. An archeological museum is located in Greding, a technical museum in Kratzmühle, a toy museum in Beilngries.
Or just stay at home and enjoy nature right on the holiday home. Numerous butterflies flutter by in front of the balcony and settle on the flowers. I’ll list a few that come to mind again and again: Little Fox, Kohlweissling, Peacock’s Eye, Admiral, Swallowtail. I do not know the names of the others. If you know it, you will recognize many different birds by their voices. But other forest and meadow animals run through the garden again and again. Recently, even in the morning, a deer showed up in front of the neighbor’s bedroom window. The proximity of the forest, the river, the meadows, the missing roads – this is the nature park Altmühltal – and you live in the middle.
