The double bedroom room is large, light, bright and airy. It is on the first floor of an old stone-built village house. I bought the house in 2016 and have been restoring it. Quiet and privacy is assured as the village is at the end of the road which leads up to the Eggeralm and the Garnitzenklamm. On one side of the house is the Schloß Möderndorf, which is now the Heimat (‘how we lived’) Museum; on the other side I have cows for neighbours! The garden faces south and Italy. It takes less than five minutes by bicycle to get to Hermagor and its shops. A great local ski area, Nassfeld, is about a 5 minute drive; Tarvisio in Italy is about a half hour drive.
There are year-round sporting activities locally: skiing, both alpine and cross-country; cycling, we are right on top of Radweg 3/3a (there is a groomed XC ski track that runs parallel); swimming in summer in the Presseggersee, the only reliably warm lake in all Austria, and a short distance to Worthersee, for sailing. The amount of local hiking in summer (snowshoeing in winter) is huge! Backcountry skiing? Lots here! Horseback riding in the village!
I am offering a large double bedroom in a private house. There is a private shower bathroom that is newly renovated (2018). As the house is old, it has many character features such as a Kachelofen, which is in use all winter; it’s traditional in Austria to warm yourself on it. There is very efficient central heating and a huge water tank. Guests may share in the amenities such as free WiFi, the use of the DVD and TV, dining and living room. There is a gas BBQ in the enclosed garden.
Breakfast and dinner are by arrangement. Dogs by negotiation. No cats please, as I have two dogs.
