In southern Freiburg – at the foot of the Schoenberg – lies the child-friendly, green, colorful and highly ecological Vauban district, which has been built since 1995 as a new building area. Extensive old tree population as well as the hiking and excursion area “Schönberg” in front of the door invite to walks.
The room is located in the fourth (top) floor (elevator available) of a passive house built in 2006 with south exposure and balcony.
Amenities include a mini-kitchen (complete crockery, fridge, 2 plate hob, sink, grill), a back-friendly 1m X 2m bed (+ linens), TV, DSL / wireless internet access, a separate guest shower room (4 sqm) with hair dryer, bathrobe and towels. The bathroom is not handicapped accessible. A washing machine can be shared.
The hall, which leads to the closed guest room and the separate guest bathroom, contains another apartment door; Here it happens occasionally to encounters with the landlady and a dog.
Infrastructure: 3 minutes on foot: tram stop Vauban-Mitte and organic bakery with stand-up cafe.
5 – 10 minutes walk away: Restaurant (“south”), weekday organic lunch restaurant with 2 dishes, kebab snack, ice cream parlor, organic food cooperative and Alnatura Biosupermarkt, REWE supermarket, pharmacy, Aldi and last but not least a huge forest -Wiesen-Bach-area on Schönberg for walking.
As the Vauban district is an (almost) car-free area, you should preferably use public transport. If a car is unavoidable, it must be parked at the edge of the district or in the nearby garage (5 € / day). A private bike can be borrowed (normal bike 5 € / day // e-bike 10 € / day)
Bed tax: If you stay in the guest room for private reasons, you will be charged 5% bed tax. If you need the accommodation professionally, this tax will be waived, but you will need to complete a certificate of employment for the Municipal Chamber.
