Property Description

The holiday home El Refugio is located on the edge of the National Park Edersee / Kellerwald in the beautiful only around 200 inhabitants village Königshagen in the municipality Edertal. Deciduous hardwood forests extend almost exclusively to the northern hemisphere. However, the European beech is found only in Europe. This dominance has developed within a few millennia, since the last Ice Age – a geologically as evolutionarily extremely short period of time. These trees, the 100 year old with his Edersee from the imperial era originating Dam and countless green trails, guests will find the holiday house in the immediate vicinity. The National Park is the ideal destination for nature lovers. A paradise for hikers, whether on foot or by bike – the entire area enchant every visitor. But also the place Königshagen has everything to bring a historic half-timbered village – attractive historical places, village wells, romantic rest and picnic areas and houses that take the visitor to another world. The village Königshagen is first mentioned in 1209th The Fritzlaer Peter Pen had in Königshagen two fiefs. The first evidence for a noble family there from the year 1295th The Adelshof those of Kunigeshain likely to have been on the parcel on the northern edge “on the farms” of the present village. The Leineweber-village belonged until 1919 to the county or the Principality of Waldeck. In just a few minutes you are therefore also in Waldeck, a beautiful medieval town in the third-largest reservoir in Germany. Above the Edersee is the first time in 1120 mentioned in documents Schloss Waldeck. People who live here in the Cafe-Restaurant which can enjoy a magnificent view over most of the Edersee. But is historically the Church in King Hagen, just a few meters from our house. The foundations of the old church nave probably date from the 13th or 14th Century. The powerful, built of rubble stone steeple is demonstrably the oldest building in Königshagen. It dates from the 14th or 15th Century. In the “Handbook of German art monuments” (Dehio) it is called a late medieval. Its origin is conceivable in connection with the suspected on the northern outskirts Freihof a noble family; in a document of 1295 the “Domina de Cunygeshagen” is mentioned (mistress of King Hagen). Quite as old our Grade I listed house is not natural. It dates back to 1835 and is certainly one of the most attractive buildings in the village. However, El Refugio has a special feature. The historic half-timbered building is directly connected by a small transition a modern building attached. This was only possible because here previously a house was that, however, was collapsed due to disrepair and a reconstruction was not considered appropriate. The conservation authority has approved but with conditions a new building and so the guests of this holiday home have the opportunity to get easily from one century to another. That was also the reason why we decided to buy the old historic half-timbered house. This combination of modernity and romanticism makes the house unique. The renovation and the new building are at the end of twice the price come as planned and even with very good capacity utilization and at halfway acceptable rental terms, the house certainly does not expect in the next 10/15 years. Self-realization of the owner, you can call it. But that is exactly the decisive advantage for our guests. Look at the photos and you will be impressed. You’ll have to search a long time until you find even a comparable holiday home in this area. However, whether the front garden in front of the house will be finished this year, is currently not guaranteed (January 2018). Even if that were not the case, that would not hurt the vacationers.
