You can spend the night of an eventful day on the balcony or in the big garden, where you can enjoy the views of the river Elbe and the Pillnitz castle. During the cold seasons you can let the day fade away in front of the fireplace.

About the history of the house: After Kleinzschachwitz had received steam-boat-stop in 1886, it became a sightly villa suburb, where retirees, salesmen, clerks and recreation seekers were living. As the example of Therese Malten shows, this also includes celebrities. Her property was built in the style of the german renaissance in 1893. Therese Malten lived here till her death in 1930. She handed down the house to her housekeeper, who could not keep it because of the estate duty. After 1945 the house was rent to several families by the municipal housing administration. Although the maintenance was let down, the precious arrangement details were kept thanks to the care of the lessees. In 1997 the villa was affetionately renovated by the art dealer Ladrón de Guevara. Since 2004 a family from Dresden has lived here. Now, after careful modification and renovation it offers comfortable housing for 12 people on the upper floor.

About Therese Malten: Therese Malten (1853 – 1930) made her debut in Dresden in the year 1873. Her success was so big she was engaged as Agathe in “Freischütz”. Soon she was consigned with parts of Richard Wagner, who was one of her admirers. The European opera houses made the assigned (1880) chamber singer Malten a lot of offers, but she stayed in Dresden. At the night of her retirement from the stage, her admirers are said to have drawn her carriage all the way from the opera to her house.
