During your 40 second trip, you’ll cruise at speeds of up to 15 miles per hour, weaving your way through the ArcelorMittal Orbit’s iconic loops and curves. Build up some momentum in the corkscrewing ‘bettfeder’ or ‘bedspring, ‘ before finishing up your run with a 50m hurtle straight back down to earth.
The Slide is the brainchild of Belgian artist Carsten Holler at the invitation of Sir Anish Kapoor, designer of the Orbit, so this is a showcase of innovation from two of the world’s leading artists.
