Property Description
Located in the Shropshire village of Woore, this 18th-century, semi-detached cottage, has been lovingly restored and provides comfortable and homely accommodation which is ideal for families and couples wanting to explore all that the area has to offer.
These include the historic market towns of Market Drayton, 7 miles away, Nantwich, 9 miles and Whitchurch, 13 miles. The towns have a wide range of amenities including shops, restaurants and pubs. They all offer leisure centres with swimming pools for those who like to keep active. Nantwich is also home to the famous outdoor Brine Pool. Other activities available locally include golf, fishing and horse riding.
The name Woore actually comes from the Celtic word for “boundary' as the village lies on the borders of Cheshire, Shropshire and Staffordshire. North Wales is also very accessible from here making this a great touring base.
It is an ideal location for visiting Chester Zoo, Ironbridge, Shrewsbury, Trentham Gardens, and Alton Towers. Other places of interest within easy driving distance include Peckforton Castle, The Potteries, Keele University and The Hawkstone Follies, which is a spectacular collection of man-made caves, cliffs and grottoes.
The area is also fantastic for walking and cycling and for horse racing enthusiasts; there are several race courses within easy driving distance. Bangor-on-Dee, Ludlow and Chester race courses are all within an hours' drive.
North Shropshire and the surrounding area are renowned for its beautiful gardens. Some of the best examples can be seen at the Dorothy Clive Garden 2½ miles away, Cholmondeley Castle, 17 miles and Wollerton Old Hall, 12 miles away.
Garden lovers should also pay a visit to the Bridgemere Garden Centre, just 2 miles away.
Shropshire also has its own “Lake District' with several meres and lakes providing plenty of opportunities for pleasant walks as well as wild swimming and other water sports. These areas are also abundant in flora, fauna and bird life. Dearnford Lake is certainly worth a visit and is just 14 miles away.
The cottage is also not far from the rivers and canals network. The Shropshire Union Canal passes through the village of Audlem just 4 miles, much of which has been designated as a conservation area. Shop and pub 50 yards, restaurant 1 mile.
