Located on the edge of the historic town of Ringwood, adjacent to the River Avon which flows gently alongside, these two apartments (refs UKC1801 and UKC1802) are located above a thatched restaurant which is steeped in history. Dating back to the 15th-century, it was once the Old Manor House owned by Cambridge University and then converted into cottages for the workers. During the 1950s, it was a pretty tearoom and antique shop, and reportedly Lawrence of Arabia wrote in this area too! The on-site restaurant offers a wide menu and fine cuisine, and has a small cosy bar, and the main town centre is less than a minute's walk away offering a selection of bakeries, cafés and coffee shops.
Each apartment has its own front door access, with each self-contained unit entered via the restaurant. They both have a living area with foldaway dining table/chairs, a well-equipped, compact kitchenette and a private bathroom, as well as period features such as beams, low ceilings and steep curved stairs. Dogs are welcome, and there are shared gardens and direct access onto a green by the river, and there are some great walks in this popular area. Within easy driving distance are beaches at Bournemouth, Poole, Sandbanks and Studland Bay. Also within easy reach are Poole Nature Reserve, Brownsea Island, and to the west, The Purbecks, Corfe Castle, and Jurassic coastline.
Moors Valley is a popular place to visit and is dog-friendly, as well as offering scenic walks and excellent wildlife spotting. There are a host of recreational activities such as angling, orienteering, cycle hire, golf, Go Ape Tree Top Adventure, Forest Segway, walking groups, canoeing and péntanque. Avon Heath is also nearby and is ideal for keen walkers. There are various fishing lakes (mainly carp) and golf courses in the area too. The New Forest National Park is easily accessible, and provides miles of scenic walks and a network of bridle paths and footpaths, and you can often find the ponies and cattle roaming the streets in one of the many picturesque villages. There is a waterpark near the charming town of Fordingbridge, which is not far away. The apartments are convenient for road links to the cathedral cities of Winchester and Salisbury, Christchurch Harbour, Paultons Park, Adventure Wonderland and Stonehenge. Other attractions include Marwell Zoo, Monkey World, Beaulieu Motor Museum, Bovington Tank Museum, New Forest Otter and Owl Park, maritime Southampton and various other tourist attractions. Beach 8 miles. Shop and pub 500 yards, restaurant on site.
