Tasteful Kingussie Apartment

4 People|2 Bedrooms|

Property Description

This beautifully presented, first floor apartment is located in the centre of the lovely village of Newtonmore, in the heart of the Cairngorms National Park. The original Victorian building has been renovated to a very good standard, retaining many of the original features coupled with a contemporary living space, and is filled with natural light and views from the rear over the village towards the countryside. Inside the property are original paintings by Michael Murphy, Simon Cook and Ann Vastano, who has been commissioned by the Scottish Parliament. Many of the paintings depict the local area and shinty (which is a cross between hockey and lacrosse), a Scottish game that the owner used to play. There is also a wall dedicated to shinty memorabilia.

Newtonmore is a popular village with good shops, restaurants, pubs and cafés, and makes the perfect base for exploring this beautiful part of the Scottish Highlands. The Cairngorms National Park area boasts a fantastic range of outdoor activities, including skiing and snowboarding, mountain and quad biking, climbing and hill walking, and a variety of water sports on nearby Loch Insh, Loch Morlich and the River Spey. Take a trip on the Cairngorm Mountain Funicular Railway, visit the Reindeer Centre near Glenmore, Landmark Forest Adventure Park in Carrbridge, or the Highland Wildlife Park at nearby Kingussie. Locally, enjoy a walk along the Newtonmore Wildcat Trail, a wonderfully varied, waymarked 6¼ mile orbital path encircling the village amidst stunning scenery. Newtonmore 18-hole golf course which is only a 2-minute walk from the apartment, is poised between the village and the River Spey, providing visitors with opportunities to enjoy some of the best golf and mountain scenery that the Scottish Highlands can offer. The Highland Folk Park, also within easy walking distance in the village of Newtonmore is unique, with its mile-long open air museum with township, used as a film location for the popular TV series 'Outlander'. Take a whisky tasting tour at nearby Dalwhinnie Distillery, the highest in Scotland. Further afield, take a day trip to the west coast and the Isle of Skye, Loch Ness and the Moray coastline.
This apartment is a superb base and couldn't be better located for exploring the many delights this area has to offer, with so much to see and do for all ages. Shop and restaurant 50 yards, pub 100 yards.
