Tasteful Inverness Lodge

2 People|1 Bedrooms|

Property Description

A warm Highland welcome awaits you at this lovely detached lodge, which is situated on the edge of Tordarroch Farm just outside the scattered community of Farr, in the beautiful river valley of Strathnairn. This working farm is renowned for its fold of prize winning Highland cattle which graze in the fields right beside the lodge. Tordarroch is the seat of the Clan Shaw who formed part of the Clan Chattan at the battle of Culloden. Equipped and furnished to a good standard, the property is surrounded by natural beauty, and makes an ideal base for exploring this fabulous part of the Scottish Highlands, and yet it is within easy reach of Inverness airport.

The Strathnairn Valley is known for its rich tapestry of rugged hills and fresh water lochs, along with farming and forestry, coupled with stunning unspoilt scenery. The area is steeped in history, with many historic sites and buildings within easy reach. Visit Culloden Battlefield, Cawdor and Brodie castles, and Fort George, along with cairns and standing stones. Take a day trip to see the ruins of Urquhart Castle, which nestles on the edge of Loch Ness, or travel along the stunning Moray coastline dotted with fishing villages and lovely unspoilt beaches. A boat trip on the Moray coastline is highly recommended, as you may catch sight of the renowned bottlenose dolphin. You can also take a trip along the Moray Malt Whisky Trail, the only one of its kind in the world.
Only half an hour's drive south will take you to Aviemore in the heart of the Cairngorms National Park, a lively and bustling town where you can take part in many outdoor activities, including skiing, hill and mountain climbing, pony trekking and for the more adventurous, ziplining, zorbing and the Segway trail just to name some of the many activities available. The area is wonderful for birdwatching. The rare Slavonian grebe can be seen at Loch Ruthven. Visit the Landmark Forest Adventure Park, a must do for all ages.
