Adjacent to the owners' home, it is just a few miles from the Sussex coast in one direction and Chichester, Goodwood and the South Downs in the other. You couldn't wish for a better location.

Downstairs there is a good sized kitchen with dining area opening into a comfortable sitting room, just perfect for relaxation. French windows open onto the garden, with two decked areas to enjoy its privacy and to make the most of the sunshine. There is also a secure bike shed and considering the local lanes and bridleways, this cottage would work well for keen cyclists.

The bedroom is upstairs, and has a feeling of character with its sloping ceilings. It's a lovely bright room overlooking the garden, with a comfortable double bed. There is a shower room off the hall at the bottom of the stairs.

Colworth and beyond

The small hamlet of Colworth is just five miles from Goodwood, so easy access for the Festival of Speed, the Revival Meeting and of course Glorious Goodwood in high summer.

The beach at Climping is within nine miles and the Witterings are within eleven miles. Climping is a beautiful unspoilt length of beach of Special Scientific Interest that stretches westward for over two miles from the River Arun. West Wittering is a renowned “blue flag' beach nestling beside the dunes of the East Head Nature Reserve, and offering the most wonderful views of the Solent and to the Isle of Wight.

This whole area is rich in nature. Pagham Harbour just over eight miles south west of S60691, is a haven for unusual birds and wildlife. Chichester Harbour a little further to the west, is another area of outstanding natural beauty. Pagham Harbour is an internationally important site for nature conservation, while Chichester Harbour also combines its wildlife attractions with sailing centres such as Itchenor, Bosham, Dell Quay and Emsworth.

The cathedral city of Chichester has played a key role in the affairs of Sussex since at least Roman times. The city has broad streets that are packed with listed buildings headed by the towering presence of the cathedral.

The city centre is neatly enclosed within the ancient city walls, which helps to make Chichester compact and pleasant to explore on foot. It is a cosmopolitan, vibrant and friendly city, proudly combining two thousand years of heritage with a lively lifestyle. A trip to the Chichester Festival Theatre close to the centre is worth considering, since it is famous for the quality of theatre productions, many of which premiere here before moving on to the London theatre scene. For the film buff the cinema complex and nearby restaurants to the south of the city also make for an enjoyable evening out.

There is always much to see and do in Sussex, and staying at the S60691 gives the best of both; beaches close by and an easy springboard back inland to explore the South Downs, a great area to walk.
