The village boasts a good butchers, a small shop selling newspapers and bread as well as a lovely gift shop and tea room serving yummy cakes, one of the most visited shops in Norfolk. The excellent “gastro” pub called The Crown is owned by celebrity chef Chris Coubrough. The village tennis court, a playing field and bowling club are nearby. For keen walkers the area is ideal for enjoying the coastal paths. Sculthorpe nature reserve with excellent birdwatching is 5 minutes away and there is also excellent birdwatching at both Titchwell and Holme nature reserves.
East Rudham is located between Kings Lynn and Fakenham and is well placed for those wishing to explore the pretty market towns of Burnham Market, Holt and King's Lynn as well as the North Norfolk coastline – the sandy beaches of Wells, Hunstanton and Holme are a short distance by car. The market town of Fakenham is a 10 minute drive with its good selection of shops, eateries and pubs. Fakenham has an excellent market on a Thursday and a visit to the auction rooms on the same day can be very educational. Stately homes abound with the deer parks of Houghton Hall and Holkham Hall, whilst Sandringham Estate is within easy reach.
