The tree-clad slopes around the village which sweep down to the shores of Loch Lubnaig change from spring greens to autumn russets and golds, making the surroundings spectacularly beautiful all year. The area is also rich in Scottish history, with many stories relating to Rob Roy Macgregor, whose grave can be found in the kirkyard at Balquidder. The bustling tourist town of Callander is only 10 miles away and can also be reached on the cycle path. Within easy driving distance are Loch Lomond, Gleneagles, 50 minutes, and Stirling, 1 hour. Glasgow, Edinburgh and Perth can be reached in 1½ hours. Shop, pub and restaurant ½ mile.
