For those keen on walking and cycling (there is a cycle hire shop locally), it is ideally situated, being surrounded by ancient woods and heathland, yet offering an array of shops in the village. There are cafes, tea houses, friendly pubs and restaurants serving great food as well as Italian, Thai and Chinese restaurants within easy walking distance, and a good fish and chip shop nearby too. Locally there is a hotel with luxury spa, horse riding and golf just a short drive away. You can even explore the New Forest on a double decker bus for a birds-eye view of this national park. Discover some of the quaint villages, towns, attractions and gardens nearby such as Lyndhurst, the sailing town of Lymington, Beaulieu Motor Museum, Exbury Gardens and the riverside village of Bucklers Hard. The county of Hampshire itself was enjoyed by Jane Austen, with her house and museum in Chawton and her resting place in Winchester Cathedral.
