Built around 1890, in the Upper Rhondda Valley, this charming example of a traditional miners cottage displays many original features and has been sympathetically extended with a large kitchen and bathroom to the rear of the property. It also has the modern convenience of double glazing and gas central heating, to give a cosy feeling all year round. The Afan Forest Park is a great attraction and extremely popular for mountain biking; it also has dedicated cycling tracks for all abilities which were once the old railway lines and are now a fabulous way to enjoy the countryside. You can also take long rambles or short walks at the park and for the more adventurous 4×4 off road experiences are also available. There are local shops, pubs and a train station but still very quiet and peaceful, with amazing mountain views. Make a pit stop for Rhondda Heritage Park, whatever the weather for that underground mine experience, other brilliant days out can be had at Dare Valley Country Park, The Royal Mint and Pendryn Whisky Distillery, are all just a few minutes away. The upper Rhondda Valley and the nearby Vale of Neath are famous for their hidden waterfalls whilst the stunning Brecon Beacons and Black Mountains offer breathtaking scenery and fabulous walking opportunities. Dan yr Ogof National Showcaves of Wales make for an exciting day trip. The bustling capital city of Cardiff has its Millennium Stadium, castle, museum and an array of shops, bars and restaurants. At the front of the property, you will find ample street parking and a large car park at end of road. You can start mountain walks from this car park and will find a delightful waterfall by walking in the opposite direction from the cottage. Maps are supplied together with details for some local walks. A picnic basket is available as are foldable chairs and table.
