Boats can be hired to row along the pretty river which runs through the town or take a gentle river walk, and a leisure centre with swimming pool is next to the river.

It is only a short drive to the Heritage Coast, where miles of golden beaches and friendly villages appeal to all ages. This is a fantastic central location to explore the many delights of what is reputedly the friendliest county in England. There is easy access to the A1 for visits to all major tourist attractions in all directions. The train station is only a few minutes' drive, where day trips to Edinburgh, York, Durham and Newcastle can be enjoyed. There is a lawned garden to the rear, which is ideal for relaxing after a day exploring the area, or why not pop into the pub for a great evening meal or relaxing Sunday lunch. Beach 4½ miles. Shop 700 yards, pub and restaurant 50 yards.
