From the top fields there are wonderful far-reaching views of Dartmoor looking south, and distant Exmoor in the other direction. In the lower fields there is also a pretty and secluded wildlife lake. As the farm has no near neighbours and faces Dartmoor, the night sky is jet black and stargazing is fantastic. The larger stars, planets and constellations can easily be spotted with the naked eye. Young and old can enjoy seeing the animals on the farm, which include chickens providing fresh daily eggs, ducks, geese, goats, cows and donkeys. The owners even have their own apiary (beehives) which provide delicious honey.
S86229 really is the perfect hideaway for those wishing to escape the hustle and bustle and being equidistant between Dartmoor and the north Cornish coast. It is also an ideal base to explore both Devon and Cornwall. The pretty market towns of Hatherleigh and Holsworthy are under 15 minutes' drive away, Okehampton with its larger selection of shops is within 20 minutes, and Bude's superb sandy beaches with excellent surfing along with breathtaking coastal walking, is just 16 miles away, approximately 30 minutes' drive. South of Bude can be found the pretty Cornish coastal village of Boscastle, and adjacent is the historic village of Tintagel all within an easy drive. Further afield, The Eden Project can easily be reached. Dartmoor National Park is a must for nature lovers and there are many walks nearby including The Tarka Trail and The Granite Way, which are ideal for both walkers and cyclists. Other nearby attractions include the RHS gardens at Rosemoor, many National Trust properties including Castle Drogo, Buckland Abbey, Cotehele, The Finch Foundry and Lydford Gorge, English Heritage properties including Okehampton Castle, Launceston Castle, Tintagel Castle and not forgetting the world renowned Gnome Reserve at Bradworthy!
