The Solway coast has many extensive sandy beaches and rocky coves to explore, with many traditional fishing villages and harbour ports. Kirkcudbright, the artists' town, has art galleries, antique shops, museums and shops, while Castle Douglas has many artisan food shops, galleries and independent shops. Beach 5 miles.
