For the walkers amongst you, the Cleveland Way is a short stroll away, an excellent introduction to this renowned rugged coastline. Scarborough Sea Life Sanctuary is just down the road and from there you can access the long promenade which runs along the seafront of Scarborough from the north bay to the south bay. The castle stands proudly on the cliff top separating the two bays. Dating back to the 1150s, it has been involved in some of England's finest battles. You can catch the train from Scalby Mills down to the Sea Life Sanctuary and on to Peasholm Park. The park has been one of Scarborough's favourite visitor attractions for over 100 years. The park is just a lovely place to sit and enjoy the gardens and wildlife.

Being right on the edge of the North York Moors means you have so much to see either by walking or by car. There's a steam train that runs from Whitby across the moors and down to the market town of Pickering travelling through Heartbeat country.
