Property Description

A quirky and delightful holiday cottage set in the heart of the Preseli Hills – part of the Pembrokeshire National Park in a small community of resident traditional craftspeople including a wood craftsman who works entirely with hand tools, a basket weaver and a bush craft expert who are happy to share their skills.

The 16 acre holding has a nature reserve and the Preseli Hills and the Pembrokeshire Coastal Path offer superb walking. Newport, Saundersfoot and Amroth beaches and Cardigan, Narberth and Haverfordwest market towns are all within a 30 minute drive.

The mill cottage is accessed by stone steps beside the stream with original water wheel and a decked area so you can sit and enjoy it. This cottage for two makes a perfect rural retreat. Short Breaks available on offer on our special offers page.

Entrance is through arch and double doors into the open plan living AND dining room which has a pitched roof with exposed beams. woodburning stove which runs the central heating, and a gallery sleeping loft. The room has an L-shaped comfy sofa, TV and DVD player, occasional furniture, dining table with four chairs and a music system. A door lead through to the kitchen which has a range of simple fitted units with electric cooker, fridge with freezer compartment, microwave and washing machine.

A steep ships ladder leads to the sleeping gallery which is under the eaves and has a roof light so you can look at the clear night sky from the bed. No light pollution here. There are also wonderful views of the Preseli hills. There is a low double bed and bedside lamps. A clothes hanging space and dressing chest are at the foot of the ships ladder under the sleeping loft. Bed linen is provided.

The bathroom is off the kitchen and has a white suite of bath with shower over, WC and hand basin.

Garden and Parking

There are 16 acres to wander about in and beyond that thousands of acres of Preseli hills which are a wonderful and mystical place to walk in, with ancient standing stones and ruined hill forts.

Sunrises and sunsets are spectacular viewed from the Preseli's on a clear day and on a clear night the stars are magnificent.

There is a small decked area overlooking the mill stream and redundant water wheel beside the cottage.

Benches are provided.

Parking space for one car on the shared yard.

Other Information

Wifi is available in the cottage but no phone – calls can be made via skype on a smartphone or laptop. The nearest mobile reception is a five minute walk or one minute drive towards the village of Mynachlogddu.

There is solid fuel central heating throughout and a bag of coal and basket of logs are included in the rental, more can be purchased locally.

Immersion heater for hot water when fire is not lit. A set of clear instructions on how to manage the fire and immersion will be made available.

A travel cot is available on request.

Towels may be hired at £5 per guest.

No smoking.

Up to 2 well behaved pets are welcome.
