Delightful Cartmel Cottage

2 People|1 Bedrooms|

Property Description

Enjoying a quiet residential location, S88734 is a bright and comfortable home from home, and there is plenty of space in which to relax. On the ground floor of this semi-detached property there is a small but well equipped kitchen, and a spacious living/dining room with French doors which lead onto a private, enclosed garden. On the first floor, there is a bright and airy double bedroom, a separate dressing room and family bathroom. Thoughtful extras such as bath robes, slippers and toiletries are provided to make your stay even more memorable. S88734 is just a couple of minutes' walk from the fishing village of Flookburgh, where you will find a pub, fish and chip shop, post office/general store, sandwich shop and hairdressers. Being within driving distance of Morecambe Bay, fishing is very much still part of the local village life and you can often see the fishermen collecting cockles and shrimps. The end weekend in July has the Flookbrugh Steam Gathering which is a big attraction.

Located on the Cartmel Peninsula, Flookburgh has the advantage of being close to both coast and country, and thanks to its great road access, it makes a great touring base. Just ½ mile away (or a 15-minute walk) is the old mill village of Cark-in-Cartmel, which has a railway station providing services to Grange-over-Sands, Ulverston, Barrow and Lancaster. The station also services nearby Holker Hall, which has been owned by the Cavendish family since the 17th century. In addition to the hall's collection of fine wood carvings, furniture and paintings, it also has lovely gardens, a café and grounds which are home to deer. The hall also holds many events within the grounds, which include an outdoor theatre and food markets.

The larger and very popular village of Cartmel is just over 2 miles away and is famous for its sticky toffee pudding and its restaurant L'Enclume, a 2 star Michelin restaurant which has been voted many times as the Best Restaurant in the UK, and which also has a sister restaurant in the village, the more relaxed Rogan & Co. The town also draws visitors to its racecourse, where the Cartmel Race meetings take place on eight occasions during May, July and August. The cottage is well placed for anyone who loves food and drink, with plenty of restaurants, artisan bakeries, award-winning butchers', cheese makers and local breweries. A wider range of amenities can be found in the popular seaside town of Grange-over-Sands.

Other Lakeland towns worth visiting within easy reach include Ulverston, 12 miles, Kendal, 17 miles, Windermere, 19 miles, and Ambleside, 21 miles. Outside of the Lake District National Park, why not visit Silverdale and Arnside, both Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty, 20 miles, or Lancaster, 32 miles. You can also get to the Yorkshire Dales National Park within a 45-minutes drive. Beach 3¼ miles. Shop and pub 500 yards, restaurant 2 miles.
