There's plenty of local produce to purchase or enjoy in the many restaurants and pubs serving regional favourites. There's excellent road access to the historic border city of Carlisle with its castle and museum, and Hadrian's Wall, a World Heritage Site, has interesting exhibitions to visit. The Northumberland National Park and southern Scotland are both within an hour's drive. Shop, restaurant and pub 200 yards.
