Gorgeous Brecon Town Cottage

3 People|2 Bedrooms|

Property Description

A most attractive and pretty terraced cottage dating from the 1860's. Conveniently close to the centre of Brecon but down a quiet little (no-through) road with the canal at the bottom of the street.

Once inside the cottage it is like stepping back in time but with all the conveniences for modern day living. Great attention has been paid to the decoration and furnishing to keep it in keeping with the Victorian Era; with a very pretty living room with oak beams, a period sofa and chairs. TV with BT hub – which means you can access Netflix, BBC I-player, ITV Player, Wifi and a DVD player.

Accommodation

Sleeps 2/3

The kitchen has everything you need, with an electric oven and a gas hob, a microwave, washing machine, a fridge and a separate freezer; there is plenty of room with a dining table and chairs. The back door leads out to a small courtyard garden with a lock up shed, suitable for mountain bike storage.

Up a flight of very steep wooden stairs – children and elderly people should be aware:

Bedroom 1: A bedroom with a pretty Victorian fireplace and a double bed. Walk through this room

Bedroom 2: To a child's room with a single bed.

Bathroom with a bath, a separate shower hand basin and a toilet.

The courtyard has table and chairs, a BBQ and the lock up shed. A back gate with a foot path leads through to the next little street.

There are two little streets off The Watton, John Street and Charles Street, where the traditional cottages were built in the 1860's, by two local Brecon entrepreneurial and philanthropic builders, John and Charles Jenkins', to house their workers. Jenkins – The Builders – is still a builders' merchant in Brecon.

From the cottage it only takes a few minutes to walk up into the small market town of Brecon, down to the canal, or over the bridge to Brecon Theatre and The Canal Basin. The basin is often full of the traditionally painted narrow boats and here you can hire a boat for the day or take a trip along the canal on the water taxi. It is only a short wander down to the River Usk, the water meadows and The Brecon Show Ground. At the end of the street is The Royal Welsh Regimental Museum, with, among other dispalys, all the memorabilia from the battle of Rorkes Drift – well worth a visit.
