Property Description
Ideal walking base
This traditional, red sandstone barn has been tastefully converted to create two holiday homes which retain a good deal of charm and character. Surrounded by stunning scenery, the cottages stand on the edge of the picturesque and peaceful small fellside village of Dufton, which has a good pub on the village green and is on the Pennine Way. There is excellent walking and cycling from the doorstep and one of the highlights is High Cup Nick which is a spectacular geological feature and walkers are rewarded with an amazing view along the Eden Valley to the Lakeland fells. The ancient, attractive market town of Appleby, 3 miles, stands on the River Eden and is on the famous and scenic Carlisle to Settle train line. Dufton provides a good base from which to explore the contrasting but equally beautiful Lakes and Dales National Parks. The Scottish border and Hadrian's Wall are also an easy, pretty drive away. Have an afternoon tea at the tea room, 200 yards. Shop 3 miles, pub with restaurant 200 yards.
