Excellent Freshwater Cottage

4 People|2 Bedrooms|

Property Description

The Old Kitchens at Weston Manor have been renovated into a wonderful holiday home, suitable for families or a group friends. It makes the perfect base to explore all that western Isle of Wight has to offer; The Needles, Alum Bay, Blackgang Chine and Tapnell Farm Park are just a few of the nearby attractions. There are plenty of walking and cycling opportunities nearby, with panoramic views of the Solent from Tennyson Down, and mile after mile of magnificent coastal walks to enjoy.

The property now operates as a completely independent wing of a much larger manor house, and as its name suggests, it was once kitchens of this Grade II listed English Heritage manor. Situated away from the road, in a quiet rural setting, surrounded by woodland and fields, Weston Manor itself boasts its own private Pugin-style chapel built in 1871 by William George Ward, a Catholic convert. English Heritage regard Weston Manor as having a 'special interest for its quality, completeness and rarity of survival'. The all-round interior design of this bright and spacious holiday home centres on the highly social open-plan living room and dining area. A superb tiled fireplace with large wood burner greets you on entry to the property and looks impressive against the backdrop of the open vaulted ceilings and cosy seating area that surrounds it. There are two bedrooms, at opposite ends of the property, both have been thoughtfully furnished with your comfort in mind. The large shower room comes with underfloor heating to keep your toes warm in the double shower, so that you can wash away the sand from your trips down to the fabulous nearby beaches. The fully equipped kitchen has been purposely styled to fit within the shape and height of the room with a number of free-standing units. A bakers table, which is used as a central island, can be moved around upon the stone flooring, and there's a Belfast sink with unique copper taps, as well as a range cooker set within an old fireplace.
Outside, the decked area offers a great view towards Headon Warren, and at the right time of year, you can see fantastic sunsets in the evening. The garden and parking area for up to two vehicles is enclosed by fencing and accessed by an electric gate. The garden is mainly lawned and has a variety of mature trees, shrubs and wild flowers that, along with the local wildlife, thrive in this area – be sure to keep a lookout for the native red squirrels.
