The cottage is situated in an area known locally as Hiraethog, which translates as “The Hills of Longing'. Here you will experience the stunning, unspoilt landscape of heather moor, thick forests, tranquil lakes and open spaces, dotted with charming villages, topped by big, open skies, (offering the opportunity to observe rare wildlife such as, red squirrels and Black Grouse), beautiful scenery and warm Welsh hospitality. The perfect place to get away from it all, you can either just relax and enjoy the peace and quiet, or get out there and experience some of the country's best biking, walking, fishing, and water sports locations.
Being based right in the middle of north Wales is perfect for exploring. The charming market town of Denbigh, with its historic castle and wide range of amenities, is just a 10 minute drive (9 miles), and the other 12 north Wales castles are all less than an hour away. Snowdonia National Park, home of Swallow Falls, slate mines, museums and of course Mount Snowdon is just 15 minutes by road.
More locally, the cottage is surrounded by lakes, nature reserves and history. There are lots of great walks in the area including a walk around the Llyn Brening and the Llyn Alwen. The cottage lies at the foot of S74012, an old welsh hunting lodge steeped in history. Now just a ruin of its former self, the views from the hill are breathtaking and you can see the whole of north Wales, from the north Wales coast, to Snowdon and to the English border, a perfect 5 minute walk to start or end your day.
For all the major amenities, swimming pool, golf course, restaurants, cafes, shops and supermarkets, Denbigh is just 9 miles away. However the surrounding villages also have local stores which are a little nearer.
