Bedale is a thriving market town that dates back hundreds of years and is even mentioned in the Doomsday Book. With plenty to offer right on the doorstep, guests will find themselves spoilt for choice when deciding on where to stop for breakfast, lunch and afternoon tea. Quaint restaurants and tea shops line the high street alongside local pubs and welcoming cafés, many with a wide choice of gluten free options, as well as an ice cream shop and old fashioned sweet shop too. There is a weekly farmers market that offers a variety of stalls with local produce, art and gifts as well as a popular auction house, shops and boutiques.

Perfect for walkers, ramblers and cyclists wanting to explore the magnificent Yorkshire Dales, there are many established public footpaths that lead directly from the town and then further on into the countryside. The Heritage Trail is a great walk to take and passes many of the town's historic Georgian buildings. Beckside Footpath is another popular track which follows the beck past the weir to the old canal basin which is known locally as a real wildlife haven. With only a short trip into the heart of Wensleydale, guests will be treated to some of the most magical scenery, views and countryside that the county has to offer. Ideal for cyclists, the Tour de France passed through nearby Masham and is fast becoming a sought after destination for cycling enthusiast. Perfect too for train lovers, as well as those that enjoy the scenery, during the summer the Wensleydale Railway has a regular service that goes through with a stop at Bedale Station.

Other attractions in the local area include fishing, golf clubs at Bedale, Masham and Ripon, Thorpe Perrow Bird of Prey and Mammal Centre, Bedale Hall with its children's play park, Bedale Museum, Kiplin Hall and Jervaulx Abbey. There is also the chance to visit Theakston's Brewery and The Black Sheep Brewery which are only a short drive away. A little further afield but thanks to the excellent local transport links, guests will be able to visit many of the popular local towns and villages including Northallerton, Leyburn, Hawes, Barnard Castle, Richmond, York and Durham.
