Chatton Trout Fishery invites amateur anglers to fish without a rod licence in its well-stocked 4-acre lake, close by. The friendly small town of Wooler (known locally as Glendale; the inspiration for “Postman Pat's, Greendale') is only 5 miles inland. This is a popular destination for those who enjoy cycling, golf, horse riding and walking the challenging route of the “St Cuthbert's Way' runs close by.

Bamburgh is renowned for its majestic fortress and beautiful expanse of golden, sandy beach and is only 11 miles east. The elegant Georgian town of Berwick-upon-Tweed, which straddles the salmon rich River Tweed, and the cobbled, market town of Alnwick, protected by its dramatic castle, both offer a wide array of amenities around half an hour's drive away. Alnwick Garden is a popular visitor attraction to see the Grand Cascade Waterfall and dine in the restaurant within the largest tree house in Europe!
This is England's Borderland and is often referred to as 'the secret kingdom'. The Scottish Borders are only 20 miles north, making Jenny's Cottage a superb base to exploring the Northumbrian countryside and the Heritage coastline, with easy access to the Scottish borders too. Jenny's Cottage is situated adjacent to Meg's Cottage (ref: UK3074), which can be booked independently or together to accommodate up to 7 guests.
