S88590 is a delightful, spacious cottage located on an old farm on the edge of the stunning Exmoor National Park. Enjoy beautiful valley views from both the cottage and its private patio across the 33 acres of land. And make sure to keep an eye out for B and Autumn, the owners' two friendly horses. Treat yourself to breakfast with a view from the conservatory dining room or enjoy the wood burning stove in the double height, vaulted sitting room. Feel free to explore the fields, woodland and stream which are part of the property or drop into The Masons Arms, a Michelin star pub just down the road for a pint or a bite to eat (booking advised).

Situated on the southern edge of Exmoor National Park, there are many wonderful days out to be enjoyed from the cottage. Enjoy breath-taking walks or drives across the moors and through wooded valleys while nearby Dulverton offers a wonderful Exmoor village welcome with an array of local farm shops and goods. Explore nearby Knightshayes Court; a stylish Victorian mansion with glorious gardens or visit South Molton's lively cattle market. Alternatively visit bustling Barnstaple which is only a 25 minute drive away and explore the stunning expanse of Saunton Sands. A lovely 55 minute drive through the National Park takes you to the beautiful medieval village of Dunster, nestled below Dunster Castle a National Trust property and a great day out.

Attractions and nearby amenities

The village of Dunster with its shops and restaurants is well worth visiting, as is the National Trusts' Dunster Castle with its subtropical gardens which has four different micro-climates is home to a diverse range of plants and wildlife. While you are at the castle, drop in and see the restored working watermill located in the castle's River Gardens.

Another National Trust property, Knighthayes Court built in the Victoria era for the Heathcoat-Amory family, should also be on your To Do List where you can learn about its intricate stone carvings on the staircases and many of its ceilings.

The Michelin starred Masons Arms in Knowstone is highly recommended with advance booking advised if you wish to partake in the delicious food.

The Jubilee Inn at Yeo Mill is very good as are The Grove Inn at Kings Nympton, The George Hotel in South Molton and the Woods Bar and Restaurant in nearby Dulverton.

Drive deeper into the Devon countryside to reach Exmoor National Park or head to Saunton Sands on the North Devon coast for a bracing walk along the beach. While in the National Park, make sure your walk includes the Tarr Steps to Withypool where you can enjoy a well-earned cup of tea and a piece of cake in the Tea Rooms.

Spot porpoises, dolphins and seals at Widmouth Head close to Watermouth Harbour

Take a trip to Ilfracombe and stroll around the harbour or walk to The Tunnels or Hele Bay, both award winning beaches, good for swimming and with plenty of rock pools to explore.
