Local attractions include the stately homes and beautiful grounds of Castle Howard and Sledmere, Flamingo Land, Eden Camp (a modern history theme museum), and Yorkshire Lavender Farm. A half hour's drive leads to the ancient city of York, famous for its iconic minster. From the market town of Pickering, 14 miles, visitors can board the North Yorkshire Moors steam train and enjoy a scenic trip to Whitby. Miles of sandy beaches can be found along the coastline at the traditional resorts of Scarborough, Filey and Bridlington. Shop 5 miles, pub and restaurant 1 mile.
