This traditional market town offers a wealth of historic buildings, and popular visitor attractions include The Brewery Arts Centre, Abbot Hall Art Gallery and the castle ruins. Kendal also has an excellent variety of shops, cafés, pubs, restaurants and museums, as well as a cinema, climbing wall and leisure centre with swimming pool.
One of the most popular activities here is walking, and Kendal certainly offers an abundance of great walking and hiking opportunities, with lots of tracks and trails in and around the local area. Located just 2 miles from town is Scout Scar with panoramic views of the surrounding valleys and the Lakeland Fells beyond.
