Charming Arundel Cottage

10 People|5 Bedrooms|

Property Description

Just great views of Arundel and the castle! Luxurious and spacious modern house, perfect for a family and perfect for a group of friends

S60732 is perfectly placed on the banks of the river Arun, with views across the water to the castle and the cathedral, both rising majestically above the town. Whether you are looking for a great house for an extended family gathering, or somewhere special for a group of friends to get together, you are unlikely to find anywhere better. Each of the five bedrooms has an ensuite bath or shower room, and three of them have both a bath and a separate shower!

The principal bedroom has a super king sized bed, and has outstanding views of both the castle and the cathedral. It shares a large deck with the second bedroom. The second bedroom has two single beds and access to the shared, first floor deck. The third bedroom has a king sized cabin bed and a cot for an infant. The other two bedrooms are accessed via a different staircase, and one has a king sized bed, whilst the other has a pair of single beds. It's hard to choose between them, as they are all spacious and comfortable.

Downstairs there is a wonderful kitchen and open plan dining room with sitting area, the perfect place to gather before, during and after meals. It opens onto the garden so you can spill outside if you feel inclined. You would be hard pressed to find a more convivial space. For the children there is a play room next to the kitchen which is packed with lots of things of fun and interest, so thay should be entertained. For the adults there is a separate, more formal sitting room, which is the perfect place for relaxing and listening to music, or watching something on the large satellite connected TV.

On those warm summers evenings, what could be better than relaxing in the garden with a cold drink? At S60732 the experience will be enhanced with the incomparable views across the river. In the day time the garden will also be a great place to relax, with shady or sunny places to sit according to your whim.

At the front of the house there is ample parking on the driveway inside the electric gates for several cars, which is a great benefit in Arundel, where off road parking is hard to come by.

Arundel and beyond

Arundel is a historic market town dominated by the symbolic castle and the rising spire of the cathedral, both of which you can see from S60732. It offers a plethora of craft and antique shops as well as a wide range of restaurants and tearooms. It's a great place to wander and just enjoy its hospitality.

Arundel Castle is the seat of the Dukes of Norfolk and is set in 40 acres of sweeping grounds and gardens. The castle has been seasonally open to visitors for nearly 200 years. It is one of the great treasure houses of England and is home to priceless works of art in stunning rooms. We have a link to Arundel Castle under 'Places to Visit' on our website. The Keep at Arundel Castle dates from the 11th Century, and sits atop a mound (or motte). You can climb the 131 steps to take in the views over Arundel and The South Downs, and it is definitely worth the effort.

Beyond the castle grounds Arundel Park extends north towards the Downs offering many fine walks. A two mile walk to the top affords fantastic downland views and south to the coast.

The River Arun winds its way around the town and is a magnet for wildlife. With more than 60 acres of ponds, lakes and reed beds, Arundel Wildfowl and Wetland Trust attracts some of the worlds most spectacular ducks, geese and swans. The best way to enjoy the river is on a river cruise stopping off at the Black Rabbit pub or proceeding further north where the river hugs the scarp wooded slope at the foot of the Downs before reaching Amberley.

Further afield Arundel is well placed for the coast. Climping Beach and Littlehampton's West Beach are only a short drive away. This is a beautiful unspoilt length of beach of Special Scientific Interest and at the eastern end beside the mouth of the River Arun is the West Beach Café built by local craftsmen using materials sourced locally. It is worth a visit, the fish and chips come highly recommended! S60732 is ideal for a family or friends wanting to enjoy time on the beach.

Goodwood and Fontwell racecourses are nearby along with the cathedral city of Chichester with its excellent Festival Theatre noted for not only the quality of productions but also the fact many world premieres are featured as well.

If you fancy a day in the city, Arundel mainline station is on a direct route to London so why not mix the cosmopolitan capital with this beautiful part of Sussex.
