The delightful gardens at RHS Rosemoor are well worth a visit, and the area is peppered with the beautiful villages and historic pubs. There is some challenging and rewarding walking up on Exmoor, and the cathedral city of Exeter is well worth a day out. Up on the north coast, you will find some of the best beaches in the country at Woolacombe and Saunton. Shop 6 miles, pub and restaurant 2 miles.
