Allonby Bay is one of the Marine Conservation Zones – why not visit Maryport Aquarium to find out more about the local sealife and what makes it special. There are lots of other things to do in the area including go-karting, cycling the 26-mile Hadrian's Cycleway, various museums, golf, wind surfing, sea fishing and the Solfest Music and Art Festival, plus Maryport Blues Festival are a few miles up the road. Slightly further afield is the ever popular Lake District, 26 miles, with beautiful scenery, passing Bassenthwaite Lake to Keswick. Alternatively why not go shopping in Cockermouth, only 10 miles, or Carlisle which is only 26 miles away. Beach 60 yards. Shop 50 yards, pub and restaurant 20 yards.
